How To Move Plants To Your New Home?

For many of us, gardening is a priceless hobby that helps us unwind. While we may not have huge open spaces any more, potted plants are something we resort to so we can pursue our hobby. But what happens to the plants you cared and nurtured for when you move?

Here’s how you can move your plants to your new home:

Step 1: Choose the plants you want to move. Some plants may have withered away, some may have pests, and some may be too fragile to survive long-distance travel. Filter.

Step 2: Make sure you check the rules for plants if you are moving to a different country. Some species of plants are not allowed as per some government regulations. Prepare yourself in advance.

Step 3: Prune before a week. Remove weeds and dead leaves. Clean them.

Step 4: Pot them in lighter pots made of materials like plastic, as opposed to heavy clay pots. Do this a week before you move so your plants are rooted. You can also do this if your plants are rooted in the ground. Just take a stalk and plant it in the pot. This way you’ll be able to regrow your favourite plant where you go.

Step 5: Do the moving on your own. Take your plants with you in your car. Water them on the way.

If you don’t want to carry the plants with you, request your moving company to do so. Professionals can take good care. You can also ship them to the destination but there is always the risk of damage.

If you cannot move with your plants, donate them to someone who will take good care of them instant of just abandoning them.
