Here’s What You Should Know Before Moving to Florida

More often than we expect, we need to make the difficult decision to uproot ourselves from everything familiar to a place where we can have a fresh start. Whether the fresh start is after college, years of working at the same tedious job, or even retirement, weighing all the pros and cons before moving to a new place is imperative.

During the past few years, many people from around the world have moved to Florida. It could be the low living costs, the diversity, or the unending number of recreational activities one can indulge in on and off the gorgeous beaches while taking advantage of the beautiful weather all year round that have influenced their move.

Pros

  • No state income tax is a significant perk. Florida is one of the seven states in the US with a low tax burden on its residents. This is mainly due to the lack of personal income tax, though you will still have to pay the federal income tax.
  • Housing costs are lower than those in many parts of the country.
  • The state has many beautiful beaches, including Panama City Public Peach, Delray Beach, Clearwater Beach, and Pensacola Beach. Unlike California or other states where the cost of living is very high, one can get the best of both worlds here in Florida.
  • There’s no snow, and it’s warm all year round, so there is always something to do outside! This is one place where you will never get bored and certainly not due to being cooped up inside in cold weather. If you’re a nature lover, this is your calling.
  • If you are into theme parks or have a family, there are tons of amusement parks, water parks, water sport activities, a definite perk for bikers, and bike lanes on every road.
  • Florida residents receive access to many discounts for local attractions. We all know how expensive a trip to Orlando’s Walt Disney World can get. You can now leave the place with a smile on your face and a little more money left in your pocket!

Cons

  • The state is prone to natural calamities like hurricanes.
  • If you aren’t used to heat and humidity, you might find it horrifying all year long.
  • You will be haunted by bugs everywhere you go. Some of them are even poisonous.
  • The influx of people is adding strain on the infrastructure and natural resources, especially water.

Florida is a great place to move as long as you can make peace with the cons list. Everyone has a personal preference. So you should make a decision based on your opinions. For any moving and packing related queries, contact us now!
