Top Trends in the Home Relocation Industry in 2022
Since the relocation industry suffered a lot in 2020 and 2021, we adapted to an increasing range of housing prices. But 2022 brings relief to homebuyers and the housing markets as well. Grabbing the opportunity at hand, many people have planned to relocate this year and for good.
While we cruise there, let’s talk about the top trends in the relocation industry in 2022.
1. Retirees moving to spacious locations, which are more than just an apartment:
More than 54% of the people who relocated in the year 2021 were above the age group of 55. The trend is likely to continue this year too. Retirees want to expand their space and live away from the city’s hustle and bustle. They also tend to choose peaceful places where the cost of living is affordable.
2. Attraction toward the suburbs:
The pandemic struck the financial part of our lives quite hard. This has given rise to people relocating to stay in places that are not well-populated and affordable. The remote working culture has also supported this move, where people want to calmly work with their laptops, without worrying about travel, traffic and time.
3. Job-loss triggered relocation:
Area wise job losses are pertinent, but some job losses affect families to the point of home relocation. They have to relocate quickly to be able to survive. They may also choose to relocate to a place where there are plenty of job opportunities for financial security. This has become even more important because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
4. The temporary-relocations trend:
Millennials especially are choosing to relocate temporarily to calm places that are close to the sea or the mountains.
This temporary relocation is based on several factors:
- Moving closer to family or friends
- Relocating to a place where the rent is affordable
- Wanting a different climate
- Wanting more space
- Taking advantage of working from home
5. Distance between work and home:
Back then, having a job meant everything. Today in 2022, the latest relocation trend says having very little distance between your workplace and home means everything. In the year 2021, more than 50% of relocations were cross-town moves. We predict it will go on for a while longer now. People are slowly making more time their priority.
