Moving To A New Place? Here’s How To Make New Friends!

Are you planning to relocate to a place where you do not know anyone? One of the most important parts of moving to a new place is to take time out to say goodbye to old friends and to get to know new ones. These are the things people have been doing to make new friends after relocating to an unknown place (yes, they work):

1. Get involved in things you like to do or learn a new thing:

Have you always wanted to learn the guitar or a new sport? This is time to do it and an excellent way to meet new people. Take up a hobby or get involved in things you like to do. Say yes to all the invites you get.

2. Get to know your co-workers:

Don’t be glued to your chair, strike up conversations with your co-workers. Many of them will invite you to outings where you would make even more connections. Break the ice!

3. Keep an eye out for board-game nights or other events in your city:

Almost every place now has board-game nights where you meet a lot of like-minded people if you enjoy board games. There are other events like open-mics, book clubs etc. which you can sign up for.

4. Hit-up the people you liked to hang out with on the first outing:

Making friends and to continue being friends and two different things. If you enjoyed hanging out with some people, be vocal about it and keep in touch. That is how you’ll avoid being completely lonely in a new city.

5. Take up volunteering:

You can volunteer at a church or a library – let it be a place of your choosing. That is something which is easy to do and as most of these places are full of people, connecting with a few them will be very easy.

Many people suggest using Meetups or other apps like that but the good ole’ way of making friends works the best!
