THE DOWNSIDE

  • You might be put off by seeing the amount of waste if you come from a place where the environmental sense of the people is much better.
  • Getting a visa can be a tedious job — you have to get through a lot of red tape.
  • The job opportunities are not many, especially for ex-pats. So if you can remotely and have a source of income that is not from Bali, you are good, otherwise, it’s the reason for concern.
  • The public transport system is really bad – no trains, the buses are not comfortable.
  • The rainy season will drive you bonkers if you are not used to heavy rains.
  • The traffic is crazy!

Some of the best areas to live in Bali are Ubud, Canggu and Seminyak. The latter two are super close to the sea.
