After COVID19: Things To Ensure Before Relocation

COVID 19 has changed the world. It has impacted everyone and everything around the world. Certain practices of social distancing or maintaining good hygiene are something we need to carry forward even after the end of the pandemic.

If your state or country now allows moving out of your home, here are some of the practices that will keep you safe:

1. Know about your mover’s new health or no contact policy:

Call up your mover or go through their website to know about their new post-coronavirus policies. Despite the lifting of the lockdown, stringent health and hygiene measures will be followed.

2. Sanitize everything before you move in – hire professionals:

Get a professional to sanitize your new apartment. This way you will not be exposed to anything that the previous homeowners or tenants might be suffering from.

3. Don’t be in a hurry to attend social events:

Having neighbours or friends where you live is important. But do not be in a hurry. Wait for a few months, connect online and practice social distancing for your own good.

4. Get all details about the nearest pharmacy and hospitals:

Keep the phone numbers of the nearest pharmacy and hospital handy. Have at least three such numbers for each and keep them in a place where everybody in the family can access it. Just in case they are needed during a medical crisis.

5. Make a list of all emergency and utility numbers:

You will need the staples to survive, there will only be a certain amount of perishables you will be able to carry when you move. This is why you need a list of utilities nearby. Mark them on Google Maps in your phone so navigation is easy. Also, make a list of all emergency numbers.

6. Ensure you have WiFi – even a slow connection is workable:

Without a decent internet connection, you will truly be disconnected from the world. You won’t be able to download the necessary online ordering apps, or use video conferencing or even binge-watch your favourite movie.
